S7 Technics, Russia’s leading MRO service provider and S7 Group’s company, took part in the MRO Russia & CIS, the largest event across Eastern Europe and Central Asia dedicated entirely to aircraft maintenance. This year, the in-person event, including exhibition and a conference, was held for the 16th time, on September 15 and 16 in Moscow.

During the course of the convention S7 Technics presented Russia’s first shop, which starting from 2022 is to overhaul CFM International CFM56-5B/7B engines and Honeywell 131-9A/9B auxiliary power units (APU).

”The new S7 Technics’ shop will allow S7 Airlines, as well as other operators to overhaul their engines in Russia, without having to send them abroad. This will reduce downtime and cut financial costs for the airlines. We expect the operational capacity of the facility to reach up to 100 APUs and up to 42 engines per year,” says Alexey Starkov, S7 Technics’ director for engine repairs.

In support of this project, S7 Technics and Rostec’s United Engine Corporation signed a memorandum for testing CFM56 engines overhauled by S7 Technics at the UAC-Saturn test bench.

S7 Technics has always been the anchor exhibitor at the show, whilst the engineering holding’s experts take an active role in the conference agenda.

Leonid Shoshin, S7 Technics’ deputy director for engineering support contributed to panel discussion titled Airlines and MRO Providers in the Times of Crisis.

Another discussion, on a no less pressing issue of MRO Market Recovery benefited from participation of Roman Fedorov, deputy director for economy and finance, S7 Technics.
